Governments, organizations and societies must not merely endure the COVID 19 pandemic, rather they must, at the very least, mitigate its effects in the way things are performed by changing the old paradigms of working, learning, and transacting.  There is a “mad rush” in adapting to and staying relevant in the new normal, and this is a tough challenge. Now that the significance of digital technology is brought to the fore, ASEAN ICT advocacy groups are morally obliged to lead ASEAN societies in adapting to the new normal. But this is a welcome challenge, for as the old adage says: “in the middle of difficulty lies opportunity”.

Work-from-home and online learning had been floated around as options for some time, but today they are the only viable options. Governments and businesses are shifting to these new paradigms in the best and fastest way they could, but the challenges are huge.  Readiness for this shift must be considered in various aspects — such as policies, standards, procedures, protocols, technologies, capacities, environments, safety, and overall well-being of the workers and learners — and in how these affect the end goals of work quality and learning pedagogy.

ASEAN leading experts will discuss challenges, experiences, key issues, prospects and pitfalls, of work-from-home and online learning, and how to address them.
