The NICT Summit 2024

Featured

The National ICT Summit 2024 is this year’s culminating event in the annual observance of the National ICT Month, in compliance with Presidential Proclamation No. 1521, s. 2008 DECLARING THE MONTH OF JUNE 2008 AND EVERY YEAR THEREAFTER AS “NATIONAL INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY (ICT) MONTH”. Seminars, conferences, forums, focused group discussions, technical trainings and other activities showcasing ICT in government processes that positively impact the Filipino public are held during the month. The month-long celebration provides venues to present and discuss emerging ICT technologies, products, services and new paradigms.

The government’s ICT department leads the month-long celebrations, and enlists the active participation of ICT sectoral organizations and industry partners.  For the past few years, a strong partnership was developed between the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Chief Information Officers’ Forum (CIOF, Inc.) and the Chief Information Officers’ Forum Foundation (CIOFF, Inc) where the Department relied on them in organizing the annual National Information and Communications Technology Summit (NICT Summit) as fitting culmination for ICT Month.

The theme for the NICT Summit 2024 is “Digital Governance: Navigating the Future” that seeks to highlight the launching of the CIO Council and the Sectoral and Industry Task Force and presentation of the DICT Digital Roadmap; discussions on the leading artificial intelligence (A.I.), blockchain, data governance and analytics, among other new and emerging technologies for rapid innovations; the  ongoing transformation of delivery of services to citizen, i.e., Government-to-Citizen services (G2C);  and the corresponding digitized support of the government (G2G) with  the business sector (G2B); and with its Government Employees (G2E) that contribute to the economic growth of the entire country.  Parallel tracks and exhibits will highlight citizen-centric services, eHealth services, and discussions on new and emerging technologies, among other digital solutions and best practices.

More significantly, the Summit will be the venue to launch the CIO Council and its Sectoral and Industry Task Forces, pursuant to Sections 13 and 14, respectively, of R. A. 10844, to further strengthen support to the DICT in its digital transformation efforts. The activation of the Council is a key strategy in providing, disseminating and implementing ICT guidelines and thrusts that will stimulate the pace to achieve digital transformation milestones and targets. Government strategic plans, programs and achievements in the national and in the local governments, and emerging technology strategies will also be featured. Another important takeaway of this year’s Summit is the segment on the “Southeast Asia Technology Outlook 2024” which will be participated in by select CXOs in both private and public sector associations, companies and government agencies.

The expected delegation of  400-500 face-to-face delegates is composed of  government executives, Chief Information Officers (CIOs) and designated CIOs,  private sector CEOs, CIOs, CTOs, CISOs, ICT managers and practitioners,  local government officials, academics,  the private sector industry partners, ICT associations in the public and private sector, and international partners of the CIOF Foundation.
